Product Description
Advantages of Cemented Carbide Valve Plates
Cemented carbide valve plates feature exceptional wear resistance, erosion resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature and high pressure resistance, reliable sealing, long service life and low maintenance requirements. They are ideal for harsh working conditions involving solid particles, corrosive media, high temperature and high pressure.
1. Hardness & Wear Resistance (Core Advantage)
Mainly made of tungsten carbide (WC) and cobalt (Co) via powder metallurgy. Its hardness ranges from HRA 85–93 (approx. HRC 75–90), far higher than stainless steel, carbon steel and common alloys.
Outstanding resistance to particle scouring and abrasion. When used with slurry, ash water, coal-water slurry and other solid-laden media, its service life is 5 to 20 times longer than ordinary metal parts.
The sealing surface stays intact for a long time, resisting scratch and deformation, which ensures stable sealing and low leakage rate.
2. Corrosion Resistance
Resistant to acids, alkalis, salts, oil, gas, hydrogen sulfide and other corrosive substances. It is free from rust, pitting and intergranular corrosion.
Widely applied in chemical, petrochemical, coal chemical and water treatment industries with highly corrosive media.
3. High Temperature & High Pressure Stability
Continuous operating temperature can exceed 600℃. Its hardness and strength remain stable at high temperatures with no obvious creep or deformation.
Maintains tight fitting under high pressure (Class 2500 / PN160 and above), and withstands pressure difference impact to effectively prevent internal leakage.
4. Impact & Fatigue Resistance
Produced by integral sintering or spray welding, it balances toughness and structural strength well, capable of enduring high pressure difference, water hammer and particle impact.
Excellent anti-fatigue performance against frequent opening and closing, with low cracking risk. Suitable for black water valves, lock slag valves and circulating pump valves.
5. Long Service Life & Low Maintenance
Extended service life reduces replacement frequency and production downtime losses.
The durable sealing surface lengthens maintenance intervals and allows easy repair, cutting overall operating costs.
6. Typical Application Scenarios
Coal chemical industry: Black water valves, lock slag valves, ash slag valves (solid-laden media, large pressure difference, severe erosion).
Petrochemical industry: High-temperature & high-pressure valves, valves for corrosive media and sand-bearing oil & gas.
Power industry: Desulfurization valves, ash discharge valves, high-temperature steam valves.
Mining & metallurgy: Slurry valves, mud valves, wear-resistant gate valves.
7. Comparison with Conventional Materials
Stainless steel / Carbon steel: Low hardness, prone to wear and short service life; not suitable for solid-laden media or large pressure difference conditions.
Stellite hardfacing: Good wear resistance but poor corrosion resistance and inferior high-temperature stability compared with cemented carbide.
Ceramics: Brittle with poor impact resistance and easy chipping; not applicable to high-pressure or impact-prone working conditions.
