Advantages of Cemented Carbide Valve Seats


Cemented carbide valve seats feature exceptional wear resistance, superior corrosion resistance, high temperature and pressure tolerance, reliable sealing, long service life and low maintenance requirements. They are ideal for harsh working conditions involving particle-laden media, strong corrosives, high temperature and extreme pressure.

1. Extreme Hardness & Outstanding Wear Resistance


  • Hardness ranges from HRA 85–93 (HV 1200–1800), far higher than stainless steel (HV 200–300), Stellite hardfacing (HV 400–550) and ceramic coatings (HV 1000–1300).
  • Its service life against wear is 5 to 10 times longer than that of stainless steel. It maintains stable sealing without leakage for a long time when exposed to slurry, sandy crude oil, ash water and other particle-containing fluids.
  • Mainly composed of tungsten carbide (WC) and cobalt (Co), with WC grain size of 0.8–3.5 μm, balancing excellent wear resistance and impact toughness.

2. Excellent Corrosion Resistance


  • Performs stably in strong acid, strong alkali environments with a pH range of 1 to 14, and media with chloride ions up to 20,000 ppm. It resists intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking effectively.
  • Tolerates hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and other corrosive substances, suitable for oil & gas and chemical industries.

3. High Temperature & Pressure Resistance with Good Thermal Stability


  • Continuous operating temperature exceeds 600℃. It retains high hardness at elevated temperatures with no softening or strength decline.
  • Compressive strength reaches 2200–3500 MPa, applicable for high-pressure conditions up to PN 10–63 MPa, with strong deformation and impact resistance.
  • Thermal expansion coefficient: 4.5–6.2×10⁻⁶/K, well matched with valve body materials such as WC9 and CF8M. It minimizes thermal cycling stress and delivers excellent thermal shock resistance.

4. High-Precision & Stable Sealing Performance


  • The sealing surface is precisely ground and polished with surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.2 μm. Combined with cemented carbide valve plugs, it achieves zero-leakage hard sealing.
  • High dimensional accuracy ensures no deformation or loosening during long-term operation, enabling flexible opening and closing without jamming.

5. Long Service Life & Low Maintenance Cost


  • Its overall service life is 3 to 8 times that of conventional metal valve seats, greatly reducing replacement frequency and equipment downtime.
  • It cuts spare parts stock and labor costs for maintenance, delivering high comprehensive cost performance especially for continuous production lines.

6. Flexible Adaptation to Diverse Working Conditions


  • Low cobalt content (6%–9%): Higher hardness and red hardness, suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure steam.
  • High cobalt content (12%–15%): Higher toughness and thermal shock resistance, for frequent on-off operation and particle-laden media.
